Sarah Gilstrap

President/Treasurer

Sarah is an environmental scientist for an engineering and consulting firm in Kansas City, Missouri. She has chemistry and biology degrees from Drury University and earned her Master’s degree at the University of Kansas in Environmental Science. She works with the Board of Directors and members to manage the growth of American Daughters and foster new ideas and endeavors to facilitate women in leadership.  


Leia Anderson

Secretary

Leia is co-owner of Second Best Coffee in Kansas City, Missouri. She has a background in art and education, having taught elementary art and third and fifth grade students. 


Jen Lacy

Director of the Academy

Jen is a high school science teacher in the Kansas City area. She earned her PhD in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is passionate about creating personally meaningful learning experiences for her students and AD Academy participants. She works with school, community, and neighborhood partners to develop the American Daughters Academy curriculum. 


Heather Harrison

Director of Partnerships

Heather serves as Executive Assistant for the Kansas City Public Library. She has a bachelor’s degree in English literature, previously served with AmeriCorps, is a former Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Coordinator, and volunteers for a local Girl Scouts troop.
